The municipal center, Sand, is an idyllic coastal town with a row of white wooden houses along the edge of the fjord, one of the historically important transportation routes in the region: Sandsfjorden. Here, you will find a range of excellent shops where you can secure clothing, shoes, sports equipment, gifts, fresh vegetables, and much more. You can also enjoy the daily special or a freshly brewed coffee from the many cafes in the center.
Within walking distance from the center, you'll find a pharmacy, medical center, municipal offices, a white sandy beach, museum, cultural center, tourist information (summer season), and a salmon studio (summer season). Village square, various family-friendly activities and local market days are organized several times a month. The industrial area of Garaneset houses a business park where you can find a bookstore, IT store, cafe, and tools. There is also a gas station and other service shops nearby. Outside the summer season, you will also find tourist information on the second floor here, at the office of "Næringshagen i Ryfylke."
During the summer, there are larger events like Ryfylkedagane and the Strawberry Festival, where people gather for ice cream, coffee, and snacks village square and to explore the shops. We take pride in having fantastic grocery stores in almost all our villages. At Joker Vatlandsvåg on the Ropeid Peninsula, you can get your daily groceries, but they also have a boat harbor, gas station, boat and e-bike rentals, toilets, and more. The local store is also the best place to get information about the village and what to experience here.
In the center of Sand and at Garaneset, you'll find both gas stations and workshops. There are also gas pumps in various villages in Suldal, usually associated with the grocery store."
