The beach town of Sand was an important trade port for boat building at the end of the 19th century. The jetty "Brødrene af Sand" is still standing at the Hydroquay on Sand most days in the summer months as a reminder of this time.

The jetty was built in 1866, and the Ryfylke Museum took over the "Brødrene af Sand" in 1997. Then the jetty was restored so that it returned to its original form. Today, the yacht is operated by an association of friends who are responsible for maintenance and for taking the yacht out on trips. Both captain and crew work voluntarily.

It is possible to get a guided tour on board the boat and sailing tours for groups when booking via the Ryfylkemuseet. Read more at ryfylkemuseet.no.
