Between 1640 and 1740, Håland was sheriff's court and courthouse for several periods. The facility has been restored, and today consists of the three buildings målastova, homannsbua and stovehuset. To visit the magnificent garden Håland, take the highway 13 in Hålandsosen towards Østerhus. Over the bridge, turn left.
One of the most valuable objects in Ryfylkemuseet's own is the Håland Bible or King Christian III's Bible from 1550. It is special that a copy of this first Danish translation of the Bible came to Håland. The Bible was found behind the panel in one of the living rooms in Håland when electricity was to be installed in 1913. Here it may have been for several hundred years before it was found again. Today, I only know that there are 35 copies of this Bible in Norway, of which 5 are in Rogaland. The Bible is today on the magazine.
