Børkjenes gard: Holiday idyll the old fashioned way

Børkjenes Gard is idyllically located in Hamrabøheia with its scenic surroundings and distinctive mountain garden environment. In total, the farm stretched over 8,653 da from the yard all the way to the mountains, and has a total of 40 houses. These are, among other things, the main house, barn, barn, sheep house, hen house, storehouse, mill house, drying house for grain, cable car house, cart house with annex, fire house, forge and sawmill. Most of the houses are from the 18th and 19th centuries, but several houses and stories also stretch further back in time.

The Garden was awarded the Olavsrosa in 2023, a quality mark for unique experiences rooted in Norwegian cultural heritage. They also received Suldal municipality's building conservation award in 2018 for their work in securing the building heritage at Børkjenes through their many small and large restoration projects.

From the stølane and the kår house, you also have access to a rich hiking network.

You can find Børkjenes Gard by turning off towards Hamrabø on the road between Nesflaten and Suldalsosenlangs RV13.  

Støl 1: Børkjestølen

Børkjestølen is in the heath above Børkjenestunet. You can drive all the way to the cabin in the summer season with four-wheel drive.

Støl 2: Stormmyr

Stormyr lies in the heath above Børkjenestunet. It is about a 50-minute walk from the tractor road, where you must have four-wheel drive to go up.

The Corps House

The club house is located in the yard in the main garden, where the kitchen room is from the 1860s.

8-10 beds, divided into 4 bedrooms.

Reservoir, two toilets and running water.

Wood included.

Price: 3000 per day*

*One must rent for a minimum of two nights.
