The energy hotel is superbly located on a hill above the "Kilen" area on Nesflaten, which was developed as part of the Røldal Suldal Kraft development in the 1960s. To this day, the area is marked by the work of one of Norway's leading architects at the time, Geir Grung, with flat functional roofs on the houses and the distinctive "Ufo" which is today the administration building of the power plant.
All 29 rooms are furnished in a minimalist style, and in the rooms the view of Suldalsvatnet will be the focus. In the summer months, it is possible to take a dip in the outdoor pool, just a short walk from the hotel. In winter, you can warm up in the hotel's own sauna. The hotel is also part of the "De historische" hotel chain.
"We always try to show the wholeness of the distinctive architecture on Nesflaten, both the operational center of Hydro which is located here, the hotel and the distinctive residential buildings in Kilen where, among other things, flat roofs are a distinguishing feature. The architecture up here is characterized by a non-Norwegian use of materials with a lot concrete and large windows, it's about bringing nature into the buildings," says owner and daily manager, Olav Lindseth.
Nesflaten is the northernmost hamlet in Suldal, and is surrounded by the largest lake in Rogaland and high mountain peaks. From the hotel you can take strolls through the hamlet, swim or go on a boat trip on Suldalsvatnet and rent an electric bike to explore the charming construction roads that go up the mountainsides around them. Nesflaten is also a great starting point for exploring the surrounding moors, with beautiful mountain peaks, a rich hiking network and a rich selection of tourist huts.
At Energihotellet, you get a dining experience that is in keeping with the surroundings. Energihotellet offers tempting dishes based on local ingredients such as aure from Suldalsvatnet, lamb and game from Suldalsheiane and locally produced products from farmers in the surrounding area. Their three- and four-course meals are among the best sellers, where they also offer their own side menu from the region. The view over Suldalsvatnet and the iconic golden fireplace set an atmospheric setting for every taste experience in the restaurant.
